How Your Diet May Affect Your Acne

from: MultiSkinCare.com

Over many years there has been much controversy over what it is that will cause you to suffer from acne, and the debate is even stronger when it comes to whether or not what you eat plays a role. There is one consensus, however, and that is that what you eat affects the health of your skin. Continue reading this article to learn what you can do through your diet to prevent future acne breakouts.

The most important thing you can do for your skin is drink water. Water is a mandatory element for healthy skin. Not getting enough water in your diet will cause you to be dehydrated. If you are dehydrated on a regular basis your skin is prone to cracks, oftentimes so small that you can not even see them. If your skin has even the smallest of cracks it is susceptible to being harmed by the entrance of bacteria, oils and dead skin. All of these intruders can then lead to acne breakouts if they infect your skin. Drink at least 64 ounces of water per day to ensure that your skin is fully hydrated.

Proper nutrition is key for healthy skin. Your skin needs a wide variety of nutrients for proper functioning and optimum health. Most of the key vitamins and minerals are found in various fruits and vegetables, which are the most common foods to be deficient of. Each day work to get at least six servings of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Also, alternate colors of the foods to ensure that you get a good mixture of nutrients. Eating the largest assortment that you can is ideal.

Reducing the fat in your diet can make a huge difference in the health of your skin. Just like water and salts are released through your skin, fat, if eaten in excess, comes out through your skin. For many people this leads to oily skin and increased outbreaks of acne. You do not need to completely eliminate fat from your diet, but be sure that the fat is from foods that are high in vitamins and minerals.

In recent years manufacturers of food products have begun to add chemicals to their food that have been suspected of causing problems for your skin. You can alter your diet to remove these byproducts for a month to test whether or not they have had a negative effect on your skin. Chances are, even if that was not a factor, you will appreciate the difference eating only natural foods has on your overall health.

It is believed that diets high in sugar can also increase your chances of having acne. The easiest way to lower your sugar intake is avoiding beverages other than water. Soda, coffee and juices are some things that you can remove from your diet that will greatly decrease your sugar intake.

If you are ready to make changes that can reduce your acne you have the information you need to get started. Put these tips to use and your acne is sure to improve within a few weeks.
