Understanding Common Concerns About Acne

from: MultiSkinCare.com

Acne is a skin disease most common in teens, but can affect just as many adults. If you are one of the many who suffers from this affliction, research can be the cure that you seek. This article will answer and explain some of the most common concerns that acne sufferers must face.

There isn't a simple answer as to what causes acne. Depending on the individual, there are many contributing factors that can lead to acne. A very common explanation for cause is simple genetics. A good portion of people who suffer from this skin disease inherited it. Poor diet overabundant in fried and fatty foods can also lead to acne. Others have linked this skin disorder to stress, vitamin deficiency and the most plausible explanation, hormones. The surplus oil created by hormones can clog pores, leading to acne.

Most teens are probably pondering the simple question, is acne contagious? The good news is that it isn't, so you can hang out with people who have bad acne and never experience it yourself. It is, however, advisable, also common sense, do not share any make up brushes or cosmetics with a friend whether or not they have acne. The bacteria transferred to your body, especially face, can contribute to acne.

Can you prevent acne? There is a mixed bag of answers to this. Acne is only preventable to the point that it wasn't caused by hormones or genetics. Those are both problems that you cannot fix yourself. However, if your acne developed because of greasy skin and clogged pores, those are both factors that you can resolve yourself. Avoid greasy skin care products that will clog your pores and contribute to acne as well as fried and fatty foods that will harm your complexion.

The most important question that acne afflicted individuals will ask is, is acne curable? There is no definitive cure for acne out there, but it is treatable. There are plenty of treatments out there, but it is up to you to know which one is right for your acne. Your acne won't be cured, but it will be kept from breaking out. Cures can be found in the form of medication, creams, face washes and even natural home remedies.

Meanwhile it is highly advisable not to use make-up while suffering from acne, some people cannot resist or feel embarrassed without proper coverage. Only use foundations and cosmetics consisting of fine mineral powder. These cosmetics should also be oil-free to stop further acne irritation and should also contain sun protection with at least SPF 15.

There are plenty of natural acne treatments available for those who seek it. Whether or not it will work for you, depends on the severity of your acne and the causes. Most people who suffered from clogged pores and oily skin are most likely to find relief from a home remedy. Some of the common acne treatments considered natural are tea tree oil, crushed aspirin masks and zinc supplements.

There are plenty of ways to treat acne scarring, but what works best depends on the individual. Make sure that you consider each treatment option available to you carefully. Making the wrong decision can lead to more harm than good. A common cure that many try and swear by is washing the face with lemon juice and water or making a paste with egg whites, tomatoes and cucumbers. There are also plenty of store bought creams and gels that you may wish to try. The most extreme is micro derma-brasion or laser removal for extremely scarred skin.

If you suffer from mild acne that consists of several pimples, you are usually able to properly treat it at home by washing your face and keeping it clean. However, moderate and severe cases of acne should be looked at by a physician. It is also advisable that if you know family members who have suffered from acne, also see a physician because it could be a hereditary problem. A physician is able to advise you properly and point you in the right direction for a cure that's right for you and your skin type.

Fortunately, most people who suffer from acne only have a mild case due to puberty. However, severe cases can lead to loss of self-confidence and an introverted lifestyle. Make sure you understand your acne, its causes and cures to battle it the right way. A healthy complexion is just within your grasp!
