When you have acne, it can seem like a big problem to overcome. It can be embarrassing and it can seem like a neverending source of frustration. But the truth is, you have to take the right steps to get rid of your acne. You also have to maintain clean skin so that the acne doesn't come back. 1. Wash your face at least twice a day with cleanser, whether it be chemical or natural based. Wash it a few more times a day with water. You don't want to wash your face too much more often with the cleanser because some cleansers can have a drying, irritating effect on the skin. You want to take the toxins off your face, but you don't want to ruin your skin while you are at it. It's very important that you make sure that you take care of your skin as much as you can.

2. Do not use that many lotions that are oil based. At first, it might seem like a good idea, since oil can lock in moisture, stopping your face from being too dry. But unfortunately, oil based lotions can also lock in the bacteria that causes acne in the first place. Try to stick to water based lotions and natural ways of moisturizing your face.

3. Drink more water every day. 60-70% of your body is water, so it is important that you stay hydrated, but it's more than that. Water flushes germs and toxins out of the body, and when you have acne, it is important to make sure that you get rid of toxins as soon as you can.

4. Talk to your doctor or nutritionist about eating a better diet. The food you eat acts the same as gas in a car. Your body needs the right mix of vitamins and minerals so that you can stay healthy and your body can function properly. You may think that your diet doesn't matter, but it has been proven that greasy, fatty foods have a negative influence on your skin. You are sabotaging yourself if you continue to eat that way, no matter how many cleansers and tonics you put on your skin.

5. Address your stress. This is usually not considered when trying to deal with an acne problem, but taking care of your stress can solve many issues in your life, even acne. Start taking yoga or meditation classes to cut down your stress. If you would prefer a more mainstream approach, start doing light exercise and going out in nature a few times a week. If there is anything at work or school that isn't going well, talk to someone you trust to see if there's a way you can deal with it.
